Homogeneous Vinyl - Maria

Item No.: TJ-M
Maria series has the characteristics of anti-bacterial and anti-mildew, and does not contain formaldehyde and other harmful substances.
Description
Description

Product Overview

Maria is a homogeneous commercial vinyl flooring sheet for interiors that stay busy all day: hospital wards and corridors, school buildings, transport terminals and commercial complexes. The chip pattern and colour run through the full 2.0 mm of the sheet rather than sitting in a printed layer on top, so the floor keeps its appearance as it wears and can be brought back with polishing instead of being stripped out and replaced. Sheets measure 2 m wide by 20 m long, which keeps joints to a minimum along long corridors and open-plan floors.

The formulation contains no formaldehyde and no other harmful substances, and an anti-bacterial and anti-mildew treatment is built into the sheet itself. The factory finish is PUR PROTECT, a surface treatment that resists staining and the reagents used in commercial cleaning and makes routine mopping quick. Twenty-four non-directional colours come out of this one product, so a whole building can be scheduled from a single sheet family.

As a vinyl flooring wholesale line, Maria is supplied together with the adhesive, welding rod, skirting, transition strips and stair nosings that finish an installation, so the floor and its edges arrive from one source. It is laid with adhesive on a prepared subfloor, welded at the seams and coved where the sheet meets the wall.

Core Construction and Structural Reliability

Chip and colour are mixed into the compound before the sheet is formed, so a cross-section of the floor looks the same as its surface. Mechanical behaviour is consistent from face to backing: the sheet answers a point load the same way on the day it is laid and after years of cleaning.

The core is dense and non-cellular, so weight spreads sideways instead of sinking into the material. Beds, trolleys, cleaning machines and stacked deliveries leave no permanent indentation in normal service, and the caster chair test reports no damage. That is the property that keeps a ward corridor looking level where the traffic is heaviest, and it is why wheeled equipment can run over the same strip of floor for years without a hollow appearing.

PUR PROTECT is cured onto the surface at the factory. It is the layer that meets cleaning chemicals, spilled reagents and scuffing, while the material underneath carries the structural work. Because the finish is applied in production rather than by a contractor on the last day of the job, surface protection does not depend on site workmanship.

For a pvc vinyl flooring specification, this is the structural argument: the sheet is the same material at every depth, so the floor never reaches a point where only a carrier layer is left underfoot.

Performance in Occupied Buildings

  • Indoor air quality before handover. The sheet contains no formaldehyde and no other harmful substances, so a ward, classroom or terminal can be given back to its users without a flooring-related air-quality question holding up the opening date.
  • Hygiene treatment built into the material. Anti-bacterial and anti-mildew treatment is part of the sheet and works alongside the cleaning and disinfection routine a building already runs. It supports infection control; it does not replace it.
  • Wheeled traffic treated as normal traffic. A smooth, joint-light surface lets wheelchairs, walking frames, beds and cleaning machines cross without catching at seams, which is usually what decides whether a patient or a visitor notices the floor at all.
  • Phased occupation. The floor is laid area by area rather than in one continuous operation, so a building can be handed over wing by wing, with each zone closed only for the time needed to lay, weld and clean its floor.
  • A first clean that is just a wash. The factory finish means the floor comes into service with a straightforward wash-down rather than a strip, seal or burnish programme, which shortens the gap between practical completion and first use.

Colour Range and References

Maria comes in twenty-four non-directional colours. Non-directional means the chip pattern has no up or down, so a fitter can turn a piece of sheet through ninety degrees and the design still reads correctly. That shortens laying time, keeps a large floor looking even where several drops meet, and lets offcuts from one area go into the next instead of into the skip.

The range is wide enough to zone a building without introducing a second product: one colour for ward circulation, another for waiting areas, a third for classrooms, all in the same 2.0 mm sheet with the same adhesive and the same maintenance method. Each colour is issued under its own reference, so a scheme can be scheduled colour by colour and reordered later without describing it from memory.

Screen images of vinyl flooring swatches are a guide only. Work from a physical sample in the lighting of the actual building before a colour is signed off, and check the stair treads, nosings and skirting against the same sample so the finished stair and the finished floor read as one scheme. On a project delivered in phases, tell us the full area at the outset and confirm with your sales contact how colour will be matched across the deliveries.

Cleaning and Surface Renovation

  1. Daily clean. Dry-mop or damp-mop with a neutral detergent and clean water. The PUR PROTECT surface releases soiling easily, so heavy chemical dosing is not needed to keep a corridor presentable.
  2. Deal with spills while they are still spills. Iodine-based disinfectants, tincture of iodine and similar medical reagents are resisted by the surface, but they should be wiped up rather than left to pool, particularly where a bottle has stood for days.
  3. Follow the building's disinfection routine. Where infection control requires a named disinfectant at a set dilution, use it as specified. The chemical resistance built into this vinyl flooring means the routine does not have to be watered down to protect the surface.
  4. Scrub mechanically when traffic is heavy. A rotary or automatic scrubber is fine. What the floor needs from the operator is clean water and a changed pad, not a different product.
  5. Polish to restore, not to protect. Periodic mechanical polishing brings the appearance back and does not change the texture of the pattern, because the renovation works on the same material that forms the design.
  6. Repair locally rather than re-cover. If an area is gouged or stained beyond cleaning, cut out the damaged piece, insert a matching piece of the same colour and weld the joint. The repair blends into the pattern instead of sitting on the floor as a patch.

Healthcare Facility Flooring

A hospital floor is judged less on how it looks on opening day than on how it behaves at the junctions. Maria is laid as a sheet, welded at the seams and coved up the wall with a cove former and capping strip, so mop water and spillage have nowhere to track under a skirting and dirt has no joint to collect in. That continuous surface is exactly what a cleaning supervisor looks for in a ward corridor or a treatment room.

Wards, patient rooms and wheelchair-accessible circulation areas put commercial vinyl flooring under rolling loads all day. The dense core carries those loads without indenting and the surface stays flat, so beds and trolleys are not pushed over dips and ridges. Where a department is refurbished while the rest of the hospital keeps working, the floor can be delivered and laid zone by zone with the same colour reference carried through each phase.

Colour does practical work in a hospital. Twenty-four non-directional colours let a department run a wayfinding colour through corridors and waiting areas without changing the specification, the maintenance regime or the stock item.

Be clear about the hygiene claim. The anti-bacterial and anti-mildew treatment supports a hospital's infection-control procedures; it is not a substitute for them, and it is not a certified medical claim. Infection-control teams should see the treatment statement and the test data next to the cleaning protocol they intend to run.

High-Traffic Commercial Spaces

  • Airport terminals and gate areas. Baggage trolleys, queuing systems and round-the-clock cleaning keep the floor loaded for most of the day. The dense core resists indentation where trolleys stand, and the 2 m sheet width keeps joints out of the main walking line.
  • Schools and universities. Corridors and canteens take the whole roll-call twice a day plus evening cleaning. A welded, coved floor is quick to mop, and the colour range lets a school carry a year-group or faculty colour through the building without adding a second product.
  • Offices and commercial complexes. Reception, lift lobbies and open floors carry a lighter load but a higher expectation of appearance. For a pvc vinyl flooring specification in an office building, the appeal is that the chip pattern still looks the same after years of cleaning and can be polished back rather than refitted.
  • Shopping centres and common-area circulation. Trolleys, delivery cages and spillages between trading hours are the daily reality. A floor that can be cleaned overnight and repaired at a single bay without closing the unit keeps the tenant relationship simple.
  • What high traffic actually means. It is not only footfall. It is wheels, cleaning frequency and the cost of closing the space added together, and a school corridor cleaned nightly can be under more stress than a terminal on a rolling cleaning programme.

Project Integration and Lifecycle Value

Flooring is chosen early and paid for late. Maria is specified by test method rather than by adjective: abrasion, chemical resistance, dimensional stability, slip, fire and emissions are all reported against named ISO and EN methods, so the performance can be written into a tender document and checked at handover instead of argued about afterwards.

On a multi-phase or multi-site programme, one product across the whole project simplifies everything downstream. The same subfloor preparation, the same adhesive, the same welding and the same maintenance method apply in every building, and a distributor can hold a single line rather than four. The colour reference travels with the order, so a fit-out completed in the second year still matches the first.

The lifecycle reasoning is straightforward. A floor that can be polished back into appearance does not have to be stripped out when it looks tired, and a floor that can be patched locally does not have to be replaced because of one damaged bay. Measured against the cost of closing a ward, a classroom or a commercial unit for a refit, most of the saving sits in the disruption rather than in the material.

Buyers purchasing on vinyl flooring wholesale terms usually want the paperwork settled early. Tell your sales contact which test reports, product statements or declarations your client requires, and confirm them against the order before production is scheduled.

Product Advantages

  • No wear layer to delaminate. A heterogeneous sheet carries a transparent wear layer bonded over a printed design; if that layer lifts or wears through, the floor is finished. Maria is the same material at the surface and at the back, so there is no interface to fail and nothing to peel at a seam.
  • A scuff does not turn white. Because the colour is in the body of the sheet, a scratch or scrape exposes the same chip pattern rather than a pale core. Floors in entrance zones and trolley routes stay presentable far longer without cosmetic repair.
  • One product at every traffic level. The same 2.0 mm sheet works in a ward, a corridor, a classroom and a reception, which means one adhesive, one welding rod, one cleaning method and, for a distributor, one stock line covering most of a building.
  • Repairable in place. A damaged bay can be cut out and patched with the same colour and welded flush, so a single accident does not condemn a whole run of flooring.
  • No trade-off between colour and performance. All twenty-four non-directional colours share the same construction, the same PUR PROTECT finish and the same test results, so choosing a lighter or stronger colour does not quietly downgrade the floor.

Matching Accessories

A floor is only as good as its edges. Alongside the sheet we supply the pieces that finish a Maria installation: adhesive for the sheet, welding rod in matching colours for the seams, cove former and capping strip where the floor turns up the wall, transition strips at doorways and changes of finish, and stair treads and nosings where the floor meets a flight.

Ordering them together is not a convenience, it is how the details stay consistent. A welding rod that matches the sheet makes a seam read as part of the floor rather than a repair line; a transition specified with the sheet keeps the same height and finish at every doorway; a nosing chosen at the same time keeps the stair in the same colour family as the corridor it leads from.

Subfloor preparation belongs in the same package. Primer and a self-levelling compound are available where the slab has to be flattened before the sheet goes down, which is usually the difference between a floor that stays flat and one that telegraphs every ridge in the concrete.

If you are buying the floor as a package, give us the areas and the stair count at quotation stage so accessory quantities are calculated with the sheet rather than added afterwards. When new vinyl flooring has to sit beside finishes that are staying on a refurbishment, send a sample of what is already down and we will check it against the current range.

Sheet Planning and Installation

  1. Check and prepare the subfloor. At 2.0 mm the sheet follows whatever is underneath, so the slab needs to be flat, dry, sound and primed before anything is opened.
  2. Condition the sheet before cutting. Let the roll relax in the room where it will be laid so it lies flat and the seams close properly.
  3. Set out the seams first. Plan the drops so joints fall away from the main walking line and away from doorways, and use the 20 m length to run a corridor in as few pieces as possible.
  4. Use the non-directional pattern to cut waste. Offcuts can be turned and reused in the next area, which reduces the material lost to pattern matching on a large floor.
  5. Lay, roll and weld. Apply adhesive to the prepared subfloor, roll the sheet to take out trapped air, then weld the seams with matching rod and trim them flush once cool.
  6. Finish the edges, then clean. Fit coving, transitions and nosings, wash the floor down and keep heavy traffic off it until the adhesive has taken. Hand over a spare length in the same colour for future repairs.

Ordering and Delivery

  • Payment. TT or LC, confirmed on the proforma invoice before production is scheduled.
  • Lead time. Allow 7-15 days for production and dispatch, counted from order confirmation and receipt of the agreed payment. Phased or larger programmes are scheduled with your sales contact.
  • Order quantity. Ask your sales contact what quantity applies to your colour and format; stock lines and project quantities are handled differently.
  • Samples and colour approval. Ask your sales contact about sample availability before a colour is written into a specification, and keep the approved sample with the order record.
  • Colour across deliveries. Tell us at order stage if the project will be delivered in phases so that colour matching across those deliveries can be planned.
  • Packing and loading. Confirm the packing and pallet configuration your site needs when the order is placed.
  • Wholesale supply. Maria ships as a vinyl flooring wholesale line to contractors, distributors and facility buyers, in full sheets and together with the matching accessories where the project needs them.
  • Export. We ship to more than 30 countries, and export documents are issued with the order.
  • Warranty and after-sales. Ask your sales contact to state the warranty terms that apply to your order in writing.

Limitations of Use

  • Wet rooms and standing water. Maria is an indoor pvc vinyl flooring sheet, not a drainage-floor system. In shower rooms, hydrotherapy areas or plant rooms that are hosed down daily, the falls to the drain, the coved skirting and the drainage detail have to be built for a wet environment. Confirm suitability with your sales contact before the sheet is specified where water stands rather than passes over.
  • Outdoor, semi-outdoor and unheated spaces. Balconies, canopies, loading docks open to the weather and unheated stores sit outside what this sheet is made for. Sun exposure, frost and constant temperature swing move a floor beyond its intended service.
  • Where the tender asks for a higher slip class. Wet slip resistance is R9 to EN 51130, with dry slip ≥0.3 to EN 13893. Most hospital, school and commercial specifications stop there; a specification calling for R10 or R11 needs a different product, and it is better to know that at tender stage than on site.
  • Concentrated chemical spills. Resistance to iodine-based disinfectants, iodine tincture and ordinary cleaning reagents is rated Good to ISO 26987 / EN 423, which covers a routine disinfection regime. A floor that holds spilled solvents, strong acids or dyes overnight needs a different specification — on this sheet, wipe them up.
  • Stairs and ramps taken as bare sheet. The sheet is the floor. Stair flights need a tread and a nosing with a grip insert, and a ramp needs its transition detailed before the sheet is cut.
  • Subfloors that are not ready. At 2.0 mm a homogeneous vinyl flooring sheet follows whatever is underneath. A damp slab, a weak or dusty screed, an expansion joint or a moving crack will telegraph through or lift the floor, and it will be read as a flooring fault.
  • Rooms specified to a defined electrostatic class. Electrical resistance is above 10^9-10 Ω to EN 1081. If a space is specified to a particular conductive or dissipative class, check that figure against the requirement before ordering.
  • Hygiene treated as a warranty. The anti-bacterial and anti-mildew treatment supports the cleaning and disinfection routine. It does not replace that routine and it is not a medical claim.

Functional Design for High-Demand Environments

Commercial interiors that stay busy all day need a floor that keeps up. Our homogeneous vinyl flooring is made for commercial applications where a hygienic, sustainable surface is part of the specification, and it suits facility managers and the people who buy and maintain flooring for busy buildings, who have to balance durability with everyday safety. The formulation is free from formaldehyde and other toxic substances, which helps the material meet strict indoor air quality requirements. Antibacterial and anti-mildew properties support infection control routines, so the floor is a good fit for healthcare buildings, schools and public transportation hubs where foot traffic is heavy and wheelchair access has to be dependable. Please confirm the performance data and test documentation your project requires against these requirements when you specify.

Use Scenarios

  • Healthcare interiors, where infection control and easy cleaning are part of daily procedure.
  • Schools and education buildings, including corridors and classrooms that see constant foot traffic.
  • Public transportation hubs such as concourses, waiting areas and transfer corridors.
  • Commercial and public buildings where wheelchair accessibility and a hygienic surface are both required.
  • Back-of-house and service areas that need a hard-wearing, low-maintenance floor.
  • Projects where indoor air quality is a stated criterion and formaldehyde-free materials are preferred.

FAQ

What makes this homogeneous vinyl flooring suitable for commercial use?

The sheet is homogeneous: the material at the surface is the same material through the full 2.0 mm, so heavy traffic wears into the pattern rather than through a thin decorative layer. A dense core carries trolleys, beds and cleaning machines without permanent indentation, seams are welded so the floor can be coved and washed down, and the PUR PROTECT finish resists the disinfectants and staining that commercial cleaning leaves behind.

How many colours are available, and can the sheet be adapted to a project layout?

Twenty-four non-directional colours, all in the same 2.0 mm construction, so a commercial vinyl flooring scheme can change colour room by room without changing product. The standard sheet is 2 m wide by 20 m long, which suits most corridor and open-floor layouts. If your project needs a different arrangement, or a colour matched against an existing scheme, send the details and a sample to your sales contact so the options can be checked.

How should Maria flooring be maintained to preserve its quality?

Damp-mop with a neutral detergent and clean water, wipe up iodine-based disinfectants and other reagents rather than leaving them to pool, and follow the building's own disinfection routine at the stated dilution. A periodic mechanical polish restores the appearance of the surface without changing the texture of the pattern. In a hospital or a school this is a scheduled routine, not a repair programme.

Are there areas where this floor is not the right choice?

Maria is an indoor pvc vinyl flooring sheet, laid with adhesive and finished with welded seams. Areas with standing water, constant concentrated chemical spillage or external exposure should be reviewed before the specification is fixed: send the details and we will say whether the sheet suits or whether a different finish should be used. Unusual mechanical abuse is worth raising at quotation stage rather than after installation.

Is the antibacterial treatment a substitute for disinfection?

No. Anti-bacterial and anti-mildew treatment is built into the sheet to help control the growth of pathogens on the surface, and it works alongside the cleaning and disinfection procedure the building already runs. Infection-control teams should read it as supporting information about the surface, not as a replacement for their protocol and not as a medical claim.
