Vinyl Flooring Installation & Technical Support
A resilient floor rarely fails in the factory. It fails on site — on a wet screed, a 3 mm step, a solvent adhesive, or a roll laid straight out of the container. This page sets out the support that comes with the material, the four subfloor values a contractor must test and sign for, and exactly where the material warranty stops.
- 2 support levels
- 4 subfloor tests
- 24 h answer on a claim
- 10,000 m² on-site threshold
How support runs
Support runs from tender to handover, not from the delivery note
Four points in a project decide whether the floor performs. Each one has a document attached to it, and each one is cheaper to close before the next stage starts.
- 01
Read the drawings before the price is fixed
Send the floor plans and the building type. You get the English Installation Guide and CAD wall and floor junction details back, so substrate work and trimming land in the bill of quantities instead of on the snag list.
- 02
Agree the subfloor sheet before material ships
Moisture, flatness, compressive strength and acclimatisation are tested and signed on site. That single sheet is what decides who carries the cost if the floor lifts six months later.
- 03
Confirm the first lift, not the last
Material acclimatises on site, the first lift and the seam layout are checked against the guide, and the cove detail is agreed — all before the crew commits the whole floor.
- 04
Keep the evidence if something goes wrong
Protect the area, photograph the defect with the batch and roll labels, and the technical file can be opened while the cause is still readable.
Two levels of support
Remote support is free; a site visit is a project service
The documents and the engineer line cover every project, whatever its size. A senior engineer travels only where the area and the tender justify it — and that is priced into the contract, not into the material.
Remote digital support
Worldwide, at no charge · all project sizes
English Installation Guide (PDF), CAD wall and floor junction details, HD installation video tutorials
7×24 WhatsApp and Zoom access to installation engineers
A written solution within 24 hours of the question
No charge, no minimum order
On-site technical guidance
Project-level service, chargeable
Overseas public building and hospital tender packages over 10,000 m²
A senior installation engineer for site briefing and first-phase demonstration laying
Travel, accommodation and the engineer day rate, as set out in the project contract
Before the first full room is laid — a briefing is cheaper than a re-lay
The remote pack is not a call centre script: it is the same guide, the same CAD details and the same engineers the on-site visit is built on.
Subfloor acceptance
Four limits the contractor tests, records and signs for before laying
The substrate belongs to the building, not to the material. These four values are measured on site and written onto a handover sheet the contractor signs. Until they are met, the floor is not laid — whatever the programme says.
| Parameter | Hard limit | Test method | Recorded by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Moisture contentof the concrete slab | Below 4.5 % | CM tester, or relative humidity below 75 % to ASTM F2170 | Contractor |
| Flatness | 2 mm or less under a 2 m straightedge | Straightedge and feeler gauge, room by room | Contractor |
| Compressive strength | 20 MPa minimum | Concrete test report, plus a visual survey for laitance, hollow spots, oil and cracks | Contractor |
| Acclimatisation | Material stored on site 24–48 h at 18–26 °C | Site temperature log kept from delivery to laying | Contractor |
A value outside tolerance moves the laying date, not the specification — levelling compound is cheaper than a replacement floor.
Why a bad substrate cannot be blamed on the sheet
- Once the sheet is bonded the substrate is no longer visible. The signed handover sheet is the only record of what the floor was laid on.
- A 2 mm step under a 2 m straightedge leaves the joint unsupported. The sheet flexes there, the seam opens and the edge wears first.
- Sheet stored below 18 °C is stiff when it is cut and shrinks back after installation, opening seams that were welded tight.
Materials these limits govern

Self Leveling Compound
- Fast-drying, high compressive strength
- Brings a screed inside the 2 mm tolerance

Vinyl Floor Adhesive
- Water-based acrylic, zero solvent
- Plasticiser resistant, LEED compliant
Warranty boundaries
Where the material warranty ends and the site responsibility begins
The material warranty covers the material as supplied. It does not cover the conditions it was laid into. Both halves of that sentence are written down here, so nobody has to argue about them after handover.
Covered by the material warranty
The material as supplied
Physical and chemical properties of the material as supplied, measured against the contracted standard
EN ISO 10581, EN ISO 10582, EN 13501 fire class Bfl-s1 where specified
Batch and roll labels, retained samples and test reports from the same production run
A suspected material fault, documented and reported before the area is re-instated
Outside the warranty
Substrate and workmanship conditions
Levelling outside 2 mm, laitance, hollow spots or live cracks under the sheet
Rising damp with no moisture barrier — blistering and lifted edges where the bond gives way
Solvent-based contact adhesive, or any grade not recommended for the sheet — blistering, softening and adhesive failure
Laying without 24–48 h at 18–26 °C — gapping, peaking and cracking as the sheet relaxes on the floor
Blistering, edge lifting, adhesive failure and cracking are the four symptoms named in every site-condition claim. In each case the cause sits under the sheet, not inside it.
If a claim is raised
The 48-hour rule for any material dispute
A claim is decided by what can be read from the floor, not by how loudly it is argued. The first 48 hours decide whether that evidence still exists.
- 01
Protect the area
Leave the sheet in place and keep traffic off it. Once it is lifted, or the room is re-instated, the cause can no longer be established.
- 02
Document it
Photograph or film the defect, and record the room, the laying date, the batch and the roll labels from the boxes still on site.
- 03
Open the review
The technical committee starts within 24 hours of receiving the file and states whether the material or the site conditions are implicated.
- 04
Test independently
Where the cause is disputed, samples from the same batch go to a third-party statutory laboratory for testing.
Clear photographs of an un-lifted defect, plus the roll label, settle most questions in a single round — before anyone starts cutting the floor.
FAQ
Questions buyers ask about installation support
01 Is the installation guide free, and is it in English?
Yes. The Installation Guide, the CAD wall and floor junction details and the video tutorials are supplied free and in English, worldwide, whatever the size of the project. The engineer line is open 7×24 on WhatsApp and Zoom and returns a written answer within 24 hours.
02 When do you send an engineer to the site?
On overseas public building and hospital tender packages above 10,000 m². It is a chargeable project service: the client covers travel, accommodation and the engineer day rate as agreed in the contract. Smaller projects stay on remote support, which is where most questions are answered anyway.
03 What must the contractor test before the sheet is laid?
Four things: moisture below 4.5 % on a CM tester (or relative humidity below 75 % to ASTM F2170), flatness of 2 mm or less under a 2 m straightedge, compressive strength of at least 20 MPa with no laitance, hollow spots, oil or cracks, and acclimatisation of the material on site for 24–48 hours at 18–26 °C. The readings go onto a handover sheet the contractor signs.
04 The crew used a solvent contact adhesive and the floor bubbled — is that a warranty claim?
No. Adhesive choice, subfloor preparation, a missing moisture barrier and skipped acclimatisation are site and workmanship conditions. Blistering, edge lifting, adhesive failure and cracking that follow from them sit outside the material warranty — which is why the subfloor sheet is signed before delivery, not after.
05 What do I send with a material complaint?
Within 48 hours: leave the area untouched, photograph or film the defect, and give us the batch and roll labels along with the laying date. The technical committee reviews the file within 24 hours and, where the cause is disputed, arranges sampling by a third-party laboratory.
